There was a time in my life when I believed the size of your detergent jug directly correlated with your level of domestic success.
Big jug = good mom.
Giant jug = super mom.
Jug with a built-in measuring cup? CEO of Laundry.
I was wrong.
Let me paint you a picture:
I’m in the laundry aisle, hauling around a toddler who may or may not have peed through his pants. I grab the detergent jug—because that’s what we’ve always done—and immediately regret it. It's 12 pounds of disappointment, sloshing blue mystery goo everywhere, and it’s leaking before I even open it.
That was the last straw.
Here’s why I broke up with the jug (and why you should too):
1. They lie about how many loads they do.
The label says "64 loads," but if you're living that double-sock, three-kids-two-pets life? You’re lucky if you get 30. Why? Because the measuring cup is a joke and no one uses it right. (And if your partner helps with laundry, forget it—they’re just free-pouring like they’re seasoning chicken.)
2. They’re literally garbage.
Those jugs? Almost all of them end up in landfills. I don’t know about you, but I’d like my kids to have a planet to live on that isn’t buried under plastic detergent bottles and snack wrappers.
3. They make a mess. Always.
Have you ever had detergent leak down the shelf, behind the washer, and somehow under your sock? Because I have. And let me tell you—there’s nothing more humbling than stepping in cold detergent at 6:30 a.m.
4. They take up a ridiculous amount of space.
Why does a cleaning product need to be the size of a watermelon? Laundry rooms aren’t exactly known for their storage options, and I’d rather use that shelf space for literally anything else.
So I made the switch to laundry sheets.
Not because I’m trying to be trendy.
Not because a momfluencer told me to.
But because I was tired of my laundry room being a toxic waste zone.
These sheets are light, easy, mess-free, and they work. Like, really well. They dissolve instantly, smell amazing (without making your nose burn), and come in packaging my recycling bin actually understands.
No spills. No guessing. No “oh crap, did I pour too much?” panic.

It’s a tiny change with a big impact.
And honestly? It’s one less thing weighing me down—literally and emotionally.
Your laundry deserves better. So do you.
Break up with the jug. You’ll never look back.
